“Which cafe would you recommend / like best?” This question came as no surprise – whenever someone ask me this, a particular place has already taken root in my mind and I might have appeared to respond too fast without thinking. 😂 I could come up with a number of notable others but Paddy hills still tops my list. So far.
We headed to Paddy Hills for brunch on Christmas Eve. Located in a slightly ulu part of the west along South Buona Vista Road, this hipster modern cafe serves a wide selection of contemplorary fusion dishes. A large part of its popularity might be owing to its novel dishes which are not just seemly interesting on the menu and ridiculously photogenic looking, but also surprisingly pleasing to the palate, giving your tastebuds a whole new experience with their innovative creations.
Ambience wise was great – the exterior emanates a rustic charm, wooden furnitures with brightly lit neon lighted words on the wall, the widely spaced interior boasts a spacious seating capacity, and stepping in, I was impressed with the multiple elements of design from the bricked walls, more wooden furnitures, to the bronze bar table that added a classy yet rustic touch to the entire place. An opened-space coffee bar is planted in the centre, which gives you an opportunity to catch a glimpse of their barista in action. On top of all that, the side of the cafe by the window is flooded with plenty of natural light which makes that shot of your food especially instagrammable. I guess the main thing that might hold patrons back from frequent visits is the pricing which is geared towards the higher end with the mains priced above $20.
Paddy hills may be located in a slightly ulu part of Singapore, but not all that inaccessible. Directions: Alight at Har Paw Villa MRT. Exit A. Bus stop on your left (no need to cross any roads). Bus 200. 3 Stops. Walk a short distance along the one-way Buona Vista Road till you spot the white building with cute doodles on its side wall on your left, cross the road and voila.
I actually do like how it is located far away from the hubbubs of the city, making it a cozy place to sit down and enjoy your meal comfortably in peace. However, it gets pretty packed on weekends, so it would be more advisable to go early in the morning before noon.
